自然のお告げ Invitation from the nature

先日、福井県の素敵なお友達のところに遊びに行ってきました。2人のまたこれが素敵なお子さんもいらっしゃるの。

I visited my friend in Fukui Prefecture of Japan the other day. I feel that God, or the nature or whatever you may call brought me to her. She is a wonderful lady.

初めて訪れた福井。日本海の荒々しさや厳しさをみて、日本の演歌や津軽三味線のことが頭から離れませんでした。ぴったりくるんです、この気候と風景と。そして、この海からは美味しい蟹も採れるのですね。初めて食べました、ずわい蟹のメス。小さいのだけど、味がしっかりしていて、卵も美味。お友達の作ってくださったアジのフライや野菜炒めやお味噌汁やら全部美味しくて、数キロ太った気分です（「気分」だけじゃなさそう。。。。）。 

It was my first time to visit the area. I was quite impressed by the roughness of the Japan Sea. It reminded me of Japanese ENKA (a little bit like Ghazal of Persia) and Tsugaru Shamisen (our traditional string instrument with strong sounds). Another beauty of the area is good food! I really enjoyed crabs! My friend fed me so well that I am sure I gained weight....

それから、あの永平寺にも連れて行ってもらいました。美味しいお豆腐料理もご馳走していただいて（花より団子な私。。。。）。いやいや、永平寺も素晴らしかったのですよ。緑色の雨に濡れて凛とした輝きを持つ緑の石がいたるところに使われていました。建築物としてもとても面白い。昔から、永平寺というのはとっても「怖いところ」というイメージがあったのですが(母は昔、反抗期の弟に「言うこときかないと、永平寺に修行に出しますよ！」と言っていたっけ。。。)、若い修行僧の方々はジョークも混ぜた解説をされていて、びっくり。世のニーズに合わせてお寺も変わるのでしょうか。信仰の場ですからね。家が禅宗なのですが、仏教は大学でちょっと授業をとったくらいなのです。。。般若心経の解説書を買ってきました。家で夫にみせてみると、「あ、これはちゃんとした方の書かれた本だから、安心して読むといいよ」とのこと。面白いのですよ、この般若心経。
This is the picture of Eihei temple, the main temple of Zen sect of buddhism. The building itself is worth seeing. You This temple has been known in Japan for the strictness of ascetic practices. I still remember my mother yelling at my younger brother when we were young, 'If you don't listen to me, I will send you to Eihei temple!'. But honestly speaking, I didn't feel any fear. May be the temple is changing and modernizing according to the needs of visitors. On the way back home, I bought Prajñā-pāramitā-hṛdaya. Quite interesting.

家に帰ってみると、自転車置き場のそばに赤い小さなものが。。。
Getting back home, I found this littel cute plant called nandina or nandin near my garage. It's widely spread in Japan and China, the area of its origin. It is used not only for decoration purpose, but also for medical purpose. Whenever we see this nandina, Japanese people feel the coming of winter....

ナンテンです。南天。美しい名前ですね。中国と日本が原産らしいです。毒性もありますが、逆に薬や保存料として使われることもあるとか。

福寿草と合わせると「災い転じて福となす」　となり、

福井のお友達に出会えたこともご縁。いつか会えるように神様か、自然界のパワーが導いてくれたのだと思います。そして、自然は、ふっとしたところで新しい季節の訪れを見せてくれるものです。
